GAGON, Mary Mildred

56, a former Phoenix resident, was killed in an auto accident near Roosevelt, Utah. Mrs. GAGON was a practical nurse and a Phoenix resident from 1937 to 1966. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia. Burial in Roosevelt Cemetery. 9/3/1967.

GALLIER, Lt. Col. Frank W.

Lt. Col. Frank W. Gallier, 69, founder of the Military Affiliated Radio System (MARS) in Arizona in 1959, died July 13, 1967, in Phoenix General Hospital. Services were at A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary, 333 W. adams. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Col. Gallier, of 3815 N. 48th Dr., retired from the U. S. Air Force in 1956 after 39 years of service. He was director of MARS in Arizona from 1959 until 1963. He was born in Wood County, Ohio, and was a member of Masonic Lodge 112 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Survivors include his wife, Jennie E.; two sons, Neil Edward of Newport News, Virginia, and Paul W. of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Mrs. Vivien Anger of Phoenix and Mrs. Ann G. Baekey of Reseda, Calif.; one brother, Dale W. Gallier, of Toledo, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren. The AZ Republic 8/14/1967.

GARLAND, Mae Oliver

Scottsdale -- Mae Oliver Garland, 78, a Christian Scientist died May 19, 1967, in her home. She was the widow of A. S. GARLAND, a manufacturer in Evanston, Illinois. She was born in Syracuse, New York, and moved to Scottsdale two years ago. Survivors include two sons, Jerome and Sherman, both of Scottsdale; a sister in Chicago; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Entombment in Greenwood Mausoleum. 5/20/1967.

GARRETT, Mabel

54, was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, and moved to Phoenix in 1959. Daughters, Mandell and Monarail GARRETT; son, Clyde, all of Phoenix; brothers, Abraham WALKER of Tucson and Louie WALKER of Avondale; three other brothers and three sisters out of state. Burial in Double Butte Cemetery. 9/1/1967.

GATCHEL, LeRoy G.

LeRoy G. Gatchel, 63, died Sun., May 14, 1967, in Good Samaritan Hospital. He had been an accountant 40 years for Mountain States Telephone Co. He was born in New Mexico and moved to Phoenix 13 years ago from Denver. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Elaine VanULTHOVEN of Albuquerque; a brother in Tulsa; and two grandchildren. Mass of Requiem was said in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N. 3rd St. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. 5/16/1967.

GATZKE, Rose

Services for Mrs. Rose Gatzke, 72, who died Friday, Aug.18, 1967, in Georgian Court Nursing Home, were at Paradise Chapel, 3934 E. Indian School. Mrs. Gatzke was born in Germany and came to Arizona from Milwaukee in 1962. She was a member of the Mount of Olives Lutheran Church. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Gatzke is survived by her husband, Emil, and two brothers and two sisters in Germany. Sunday, August 20, 1967.

GENTRY, John Evin

Services for John Evin Gentry, 41, who died Saturday, August 5, 1967, in his home at 2021 W. Gardenia, were in Sunset Chapel, 301 W. Camelback. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Mr. Gentry was born in Stratford, Oklahoma, and moved here 31 years ago from Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was employed as a lather by Reliable Drywall Co., 3800 W. Whitton. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Faith Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Eva; two daughters, Vicki and Mrs. Pam Craig, both of Phoenix, and four brothers and four sisters living out of state. Wednesday, August 9, 1967.

GENTY, Myrtle J.

Phoenix, 48; Born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota; moved to Arizona in 1966 from Omaha. Died while visiting in Omaha. GEORGIEFS, Francisca

Rosary for Mrs. Francisca Georgiefe, 82, who died yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital, will be said at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow in Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home, 330 N. Second Ave. Mass of Requiem will be said at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthews Catholic Church, 2038 W. Van Buren. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Mrs. Georgiefe, 2904 W. Latham, was born in Cimarron, N. M., and moved to Phoenix seven months ago from Raton, N. M. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Lena) Lucero of Phoenix; a son, Alex Georgiefe of Raton; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Published in The Arizona Republic Thursday, August 17, 1967. * In the heading of the obituary, the name is spelled Georgiefs, but is spelled Georgiefe in the rest of the obituary.

GERARDO, Charlie

Miami -- Charlie Gerardo, 47, a native of Miami, died Wed., Sep. 6, 1967, in Gila General Hospital in Globe. He moved to Los Angeles in 1958. He died while on a visit here. Wife, Esther, of Los Angeles; two stepsons, Jack SALCINES of Miami and Benny SALCINES of El Paso; stepdaughter, Mrs. Frank STEINKE; a brother out of state and 13 grandchildren. Burial in Pinal Cemetery. 9/9/1967.

GIARUSSO, Vittorio

Rosary for Vittorio Giarrusso, 93, who died August 28, 1967, in a Phoenix hospital were in Sunset Chapel, 301 W. Camelback. Mass of Requiem in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4510 N. 24th St. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Mr. Giarrusso had operated a tavern in Little Falls, New York, before moving to Phoenix 15 years ago. Born in Italy, he came to the United States as a boy and became a citizen in 1896. He was a member of the Sons of Italy. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Stella Yatarola and Jette Giarrusso, both of Phoenix; three sons, James of Phoenix, Michael of Fort Plain, N. Nellie M. Gibson, 80, was born in WHite Oak, Michigan, and came here eight years ago from Ovid, Michigan. Husband, Raymond; daughters, Lerna NICHOLAS; Leona SWENDER, Mrs. William SWENDER and Ethel MULDER, all of Obid, Michigan; son, Robert SMITH, also of Ovid. BUrial in Ovid, Michigan. 9/5/1967.

GIFFORD, John J.

Sun City -- John J. GIfford, 76, a leather goods salesman for 35 years, died Sep. 25, 1967, in his home. He was born in Cleveland. and moved here two years ago from Akron, OH. He was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church in Sun City. Wife, Marie; a son, John J. of Memphis, TN; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy LINNANE, Mrs. Geraldine ORR, and Mrs. Anna M. ORR, all of Akron; a brother out of state; and 10 grandchildren. Burial in Akron. The Arizona Republic 9/26/1967.

GILBERT, Clell F.

Glendale -- Clell F. Gilbert, 72, died Thurs., Sep. 7, 1967, in a local nursing home. He was born in Virginia and came to Glendale in 1946. He operated several motels and filling stations in the state. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Evilyn GILBERT, Palmetto, Florida; a son, Russell GILBERT, Columbus, OH; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel DANFORD and Mrs. Norsy INGNIER, Columbus; one brother and seven sisters out of state; and 10 grandchildren. Burial in Resthaven Cemetery. 9/10/1967.

GILBERT, Ray L.

66, was born in Coweta, Oklahoma. Burial in East Resthaven Cemetery, Phoenix. Sons, Ray, Jr., of Muskogee, Oklahoma; F.E. of Phoenix; Eugene of Chico, California; daughters, Juanita HAMREN and Shirley JONES, both of Loma Linda, Calif.; father, H. E. GILLESPIE, Dr. D. Dean

Littleton, Colorado -- Dr. D. Dean Gillespie, 36, formerly of Phoenix, died of natural causes in his home here Monday, Aug. 28, 1967. A native of Wabash, Indiana, he moved to Phoenix with his parents in 1939 and attended Phoenix Union High School. After two years of study at Phoenix College, he transferred to the University of Southern California and later to Tulane Medical School, New Orleans where he was graduated with a medical degree in 1956. Dr. Gillespie is survived by his wife, Ann; two daughters, Diane, 6, and Andrea, 4, all of Littleton; his mother, Mrs. Paul C. Gillespie of Phoenix and his grandmother, Mrs. Charles C. Gillespie of Wabash, Indiana. Services in Christ Episcopal Church in Denver. Interment in Littleton Cemetery. The Arizona Republic Wednesday, August 30, 1967.

GILLESPIE, David L.

23, graduated in 1961 from Phoenix Union High School and attended Phoenix College. Wife, Roberta; mother, Ruth GILLESPIE; sister, Joyce FERNANDEZ; brothers, John L. GILLESPIE and Glenn W. PETERSON of Phoenix and Jack A. PETERSON of San Francisco, California. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. 9/4/1967.

GILLESPIE, Thelma Alice

Services for Mrs. Thelma Alice Gillespie, 47, of 6102 N. 41st Ave., were in Grimshaw's Bethany Chapel, 710 W. Bethany Home. She died in a Cottonwood hospital Saturday, April 29, 1967, of injuries suffered in a fall while leading a Campfire Girls hike. Mrs. Gillespie was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and came to Phoenix in 1963. She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Aileen Joyce and Alice Elaine; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Staner, Phoenix; a brother and two sisters out of state. Burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.

GILLILAND, William Wayne

Safford -- William Wayne Gilliland, 73, a native of Tempe, died Wed., Sep. 27, 1967, at his home. He attended Tempe schools and was a guard at copper mines at Miami during World War I. He was manager of the AZ General Utilities Co during the 1930s and retired in 1949 as an inspector of heavy equipment for the Gila Valley Soil Conservation District. Wife, Edna; two brothers, Clyde of Tempe and Russell out of state; two sisters out of state. Burial in Safford Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. 9/29/1967.

De Nita Glass, 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Glass, 2032 E. BUrgess Lane, died Thursday, May 4, 1967, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Surviving beside the parents are six sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Falls, Mrs. Minnie Bell Brown, Lillie Mae Glass, Johnnie Faye Gray, Margaret Glass and Lee Etta Glass, all of Phoenix; two brothers, Sylvester and David Glass, both of Phoenix, and her grandmother, Mrs. Ethel Childs in Texas. GLIDEWELL, Alfred Moch (or Mack)

Alfred Moch Glidewell, 83, a farmer who came here 18 years ago from his native Tennessee, died Wed., Sep. 27, 1967, in Phx Memorial Hospital. Survived by brothers, Tom Foster Glidewell of Eloy and M. E. Glidewell Of Selmer, TN. He was the uncle of W. T. Glidewell, Tavares, FL. Graveside services were at Greenwood Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren. 9/29/1967.

Chandler -- Hiram G. Golden, 76, a retired farmer who came to Chandler 50 years ago, died Tues., Sep. 26, 1967, in a Phx hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Little Rock, Ark.
