General Remarks:

The guard were embarked on the 15th of June and on the 21st of June 183 convicts were received on board at Sheerness from the Hulks at Chatham. On the 22nd of June 3 more were embarked making in all 186 convicts of whom 176 were boys and 10 were adults. The general health was good. Some appeared weakly and pale from confinement but all declared themselves in good health and were in good spirits being anxious for the change of life that the voyage promised them. Two of the boys were subjects of Scrofala in a high degree and two had Timeo Capitis and some slight colds were the only complaints that could be discerned amonst them.

The Lord Goderich sailed from Sheerness on the 29th of June and being detained by contrary winds we ultimately sailed from Spithead on the 14th of July. On the 1st of October we put into Simons Bay on the Cape of Good Hope and sailing from there on the 8th of October arrived in Hobart Town, Van Diemen's Land on the 18th of November.

During the month of June the thermometer averaged 65F with fine weather in the first part but indifferent in the later with high winds and rain. In July the average temperature was 79F. The first part of the month like the latter of July, stormy with frequent showers. In the latter was fine with the temperature increased. In august the average on the thermometer was 79F. On the 24th of the month we crossed the equator. In September the average heat was 65F and 60F was the highest on the thermometer in October, .i.e. the average. Occasionally it was down to 50F and climbed to 66F. The average in November was 60F. During the last two months we experienced very stormy westerly winds and there was very little rain.
