ARKANSAS STATE FLAG

ARKANSAS STATE FLAG

The Arkansas State Flag was officially adopted in 1913, and was designed by Miss Willie K. Hocker. The colors fo the Arkansas Flag are national colors red, white, and blue. The twenty five stars around the border of the diamond indicate that Arkansas was the twenty fifth state admitted to the union. The three large blue stars in the diamond placed below the word " ARKANSAS " signify the three nations of Spain, France and the United States, which Arkansas sucessively belonged. The stars also signify that Arkansas was the third state formed out of the Louisiana Purchase. The large star above the word " ARKANSAS " is there to commemorate the Confederacy, and the diamond signifies that Arkansas is the only diamond producing state in the union.
