On July 5, 1883, by the order of the Sebastian County School Board, Cross Roads School District came into existence. The school was located north and east of Mansfield. I.L. Carter was one of the early teachers. Listed below are some of the students that attended Cross Roads School: Fern Garman, Melba Martin, Opal Gann, Thelma Caudle, Aulta Willis, Lillian Snow, Cora Seaton, Lessie Caudle, Virgil Caudle, John Neiser, Tildon Rowe, Mark Hanna, Phines, Neisler, Bertha Presson, Estelle Bull, Cora Taylor Jewel Yarborough, Olen Hanna, Glenn Little, Eulus Gann, William Holmes, Geneva Knight, Leora Caudle, Pearl Ford, Ruby Daniels, Ethel Hamilton, Marie Martin, Bernice Bean, Fay Hanna, Floyd Norried, Loice Gann, Myrtle Clark, Eura Epler, Bessie Hampton, Bertha Taylor, Dora Elmore, Carl Holland, Ray Horace Holland, Will Norried, Altas Little, Lloyd Presson, and Euther Caudle. On October 4, 1929, by petition of the qualified electors and also by the order of the Sebastian County Board of Education, Cross Roads School District consolidated with Mansfield School District.
