1872 Secret voting is introduced for elections

Paul died aged 77 years and was buried on 8 June 1877 at All Saints Church, Laughton En Le Morthen. He was resident at Brookhouse. (APR) This agrees with a GRO index entry. (GRO ref Rotherham 9c 375 Jun 1877)

Elizabeth BARKER (1802 - 1868)
She was born in 1802. (Based on age on NBI - Parish Register)

Elizabeth was buried at All Saints, Laughton En Le Morthen on 19 February 1868. She was aged 66. (NBI - Parish Register) This would agree with her appearance on the 1861 Census, but her husband being a widow by the 1871 Census. This also agrees with a GRO death index entry. (GRO ref Rotherham 9c 321 mar 1868 - [aged] 66)

My 1st cousin 5 times removed was baptised on 18 April 1824 in Laughton En Le Morthen. (APR + IGI)

On the 1841 Census (6 June) Robert was aged 15, an apprentice [blacksmith?], living with his parents at Brookhouse, Laughton En Le Morthen. (PRO ref HO107/1332/1/4/25/11/10) - shown as ANDRON on Ancestry.co.uk index

Robert married Eliza Beech at Sheffield Parish Church on 17 May 1847. He was a blacksmith, aged 23 years, and Eliza was aged 24. Paul was of Pinstone Street. His father was also a blacksmith. Her father was Samuel Beech, a farmer. (GRO cert Dean Ardron + GRO ref Sheffield 22 487 Jun 1847)

He died aged 26 and was buried on 5 November 1850 in Laughton En Le Morthen. (APR) This agrees with a GRO index entry. (GRO ref Rotherham 22 357 Dec 1850)

Eliza went on to marry George Bennett on 15 December 1856 in Anston, Laughton En Le Morthen. She was a widow and an innkeeper. He was a butcher. (APR) This agrees with a GRO index entry. (GRO ref Rotherham 9c 570 Dec 1856)

She was born in 1823, dauhter of Samuel Beech, a farmer. (Based on age + details at marriage)

Elizabeth was born in 1833. (Based on her age at marriage and death)

Elizabeth died aged 75 on 19 February 1908 and was buried on 24 February 1908 at All Saints Church, Laughton En Le Morthen. She was a resident of 33 Sherwood Crescent, Rotherham. (APR + MI Dean Ardron) The death agrees with a GRO index entry. (GRO ref Rotherham 9c 480 Mar 1908 - age shown as 73)

Before her death, Elizabeth made a will on 16 May 1906 at Marsh & Sons Solicitors, Rotherham. She left her entire estate to her niece Fanny Drinkall, who was also appointed sole executor. (Family Division of the High Court)

Probate of her will was then granted to her niece Fanny Drinkall on 16 March 1908: "Ardron, Elizabeth of Sherwood Crescent, Rotherham, Yorkshire, widow, died 19 February 1908. Probate Wakefield 16 March to Fanny Drinkall (wife of John Drinkall). Effects £381 19s. 8d." (Wills & Admons 1908, Family Division of the High Court)
