Arthur married Elsie Goddard at Mexborough Parish Church on 10 June 1919. He was a motor driver, aged 23 and she was also aged 23. Arthur was resident at 8 Station Street, Swinton and Elsie was of 16 Schofield Close, Mexborough. His father was George Ardron (deceased). Elsie's father was William Goddard, a miner. She was born on 28 May 1895 at Schofield Street, Mexborough. Her parents were William and Clara (nee Elridge) Goddard. Her father was a miner. (GRO cert Dean Ardron + GRO ref Doncaster 9c 793 Sep 1895)

On the 1901 Census (31 March) she was living with her parents at 16 Schofield Street, Mexborough:

My 3rd cousin twice removed was born on 31 December 1919 in the registration district of Doncaster. (Date of birth shown on GRO death index + GRO ref Doncaster 9c 1975 Mar 1920 - Goddard)

George Arthur was then baptised on 21 January 1920 at Mexborough. His parents were Arthur, a motor driver, and Elsie, of Ardron of 16 Schofield Street. (Findmypast – Yorkshire Baptisms)

George joined the war effort, serving with the Royal Navy as a stoker (in ship engine rooms) and his leave was reported on page 8 of the local Times and Express Series on February 24 1940:

SAILOR ON LEAVE.- A young Swinton sailor, who is a stoker on board one of H.M. ships which Lord Hee-Haw has “sunk,” was home on leave for a week and returned on Wednesday. He is Stoker George A. Ardron, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Ardron of 68, Charles Street, and he told his mother that when the Nazis seemed anxious to know “Where is the ---------?” she was actually en route for Canada. They had a great reception in Canada. Stoker Ardron enjoys life in the Navy and has been in that branch of the Services for two years. During that time he has been to Gibraltar, Norway, and Sweden. His father served for four years in the Great War.

George made his last will on 19 July 1980 and appointed his wife Sarah Lilian as executor to who he left all his worldly goods. In the event of his wife "passing on" before him he named Frank Ardron of 3 Rysdale, Kirkheaton, Huddersfield his executor and beneficiary [likely to be his younger brother, Frank Ardron II]. Sarah Lilian WHITEHEAD (1920 – 2006)
She was born in 1920. (Based on her being having died aged 86 – MI + GRO ref Rotherham 9c 1905 Mar 1920 – Whitehead)

2) Kenneth Ardron (1922 - 1922)
Kenneth was born on 22 July 1922 and was then baptised on 20 August of that year at Mexborough. His parents were Arthur, a motor driver, and Elsie Ardron of 14 Charles Street, Swinton. His death and funeral arrangements were published in the Rotherham Advertiser on 26 September 2017:

Passed away on September 14th, 2017, Ardron Garfield, aged 93 years, of Swinton. Beloved husband of the late Marjorie, a dearly loved brother and a much loved uncle.
