William Franklin Belin

William Franklin Belin was born 1 May 1861 and died 1 July 1939. He was Town Marshall of Warren at one time. The following was part of his obituary: "Many of the grown-ups of Warren's present generation will best remember Mr. "Bill" Belin as the city's town marshal who made the bad boys remember the hour of the night when there existed a police system known as the curfew law. While an American of French descent, Mr. Belin had more of the characteristics of a son of Erin. He was good natured, jolly and fearless. As an officer of the law, his good right arm required no use of the policemans billy to command respect and order from the lawless." (from The Eagle Democrat ca July, 1939)
