Joining AAHGS-Arkansas

The Arkansas Chapter of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) was founded in 1997 by a group of individuals dedicated to preserving and sharing genealogical and historical research techniques, conducting educational programs and preparing exhibits. Our goal is to bring to light, through research, study, collaboration, documentation and presentation, the history and heritage of Arkansas' people of African descent.

We invite you to become a member of the AAHGS Arkansas Chapter. Membership is by calendar year and may be entered at any time. Gift memberships and memorials are also welcome.

Benefits of becoming an AAHGS Chapter member include:

• networking and sharing information and ideas with historians nationally;
• monthly minutes and bi-monthly newsletters locally;
• registration discounts on workshops, seminars, and other educational programs both locally and nationally;
• bi-monthly newsletters and 2 journals per year from the national organization;
• accessibility in publishing your genealogical finds.

Individual Annual dues are $50—$15 local, $35 national.

Membership Breakdown:

• Local/National Individual - $50 annually
• Local/National Family (includes spouse) - $60 annually
• Local/National Organizational - $70 annually
  Includes up to 3 individuals

If you are already a paid member of the National organization, and would ike to join the Arkansas chapter, membership dues yearly are $15.00 Individual, $20.00 Family, and $25 for an organization.
