He was one of the successful men of Aliceville who came up the hard way and made a success, despite limited education and financial aid. He was born on a little farm in southeast Pickens County, son of Samuel A. and Mary V. Graham, lifelong residents of the Benevola Community and members of the Presbyterian Church. Elmer Graham has been a member of the Presbyterian Church for 34 years and an officer in the church for 18 years. He was elected member of the Town Council in 1944. He began business first in Reform in the automobile business then moved to Aliceville.
