Several years ago I tried my luck on painting the old Russell Porter Palmer place and what I thought they may have looked in their young days. ~Joel

John Palmer Place - 1828 - Union Co. SC

Hezekiah Palmer born Nov.9,1778 died 1838 in Alabama. Nobody I know had any idea of what he looked like but this is what I thought he may have looked like. I know he was a rough trail blazer.

This house still exists in Northumberland County Va.and is listed in the Historical Registry. It is called the Hudnall Palmer House. It was the home of Joseph and Alice Hudnall Palmer. The house was built in the late 1600's.

This is a painting I made of what I thought the old John Palmer house looked like in 1791 when John and Friday, (A black slave) built it.When I was there in 1979 it was standing (it is gone now) but bushes and trees had grown up around it until I could not make a picture with a camera so the best I could do was sketch and paint it later. I was told by a cousin that lived there in Union (also a descendant of John ) this story and she said nobody but Palmers lived in the house, that it was passed down from one generation to the other. She also said Indians lived in the area at that time.
