Heritage Publishing Consultants, Inc. published the Heritage of Alabama Series. Lowndes County, one in a series that iincludes all counties in Alabama. The book is titled "The Heritage of Lowndes Couney, AL." 384 pages.

The society currently has for sale copies of "Lowndes Court House," by Mildred Brewer Russell.  This book is about the early years of Hayneville, the county seat through the Civil War and then some.   This book also has marriage records from 1830 through 1871, though some of these are incorrect.  The cost of the book is $40 including shipping.  Send a check or money order to the above address.

Alabama 12th Infantry

History of the 12th Alabama Volunteer Infantry by Robert Emery Park. This book was written by Mr. Park shortly after the war. He served as Captain of the regiment which was made up of men from Macon, GA, and Jewish merchants from Mobile, AL. It is a fascinating look at anti-semitism in the Civil War as this regiment was generally charged with following along after the great battles and burying the dead. Some Events and Incidents During the Civil War by William C. Jordan of the 15th Alabama Infantry Regiment - Company B. This book was originally published in 1909. It contains 21 short chapters detailing service under Jackson, Ewell, and Longstreet in Virginia. Originally published in 1909. 142 pgs. Paperback $25.00.
