ALDRIDGE, Reuben [b.___d.1850] m. Sarah ___b.1776-____, came from N.C. and setled near Salem, Ala. before 1850. His will was probated Aug 13, 1850 in Russell (now Lee County). He was a farmer. Children: Nathen, Sarah, Levicy, James K., Matthew, and William. All born in Ga.

ALDRIDGE, Clark b.1810-___. m. Mary_____[b.1812___] in Ga. Settled near Salem, Ala. before 1838. A farmer and member of Salem Masonic Lodge. Clark was a representative in the Legislature for Russell county from 1859 to 1861. Children: Lewis, b. in Ga., 1835. James, Elizabeth, Nathan and Nancy were born in Russell (now Lee) County.

ALDRIDGE, Nathan b.1812-___. m. Mary ____ [1814-____] Came from Ga., about 1835. A farmer and member of Salem Masonic Lodge. Children: Susan in Ala in 1835, Sarah 1839.

ALDRIDGE, James K. b. 1798 m. Frances [b.1804-____] Came from Ga., an original land owner in 1835. He was a farmer who settled 3 1/2 miles south of Salem. Children: Lucinda and Virginia were born in Ga., James in Ala.

FIELD, Caleb - b.1783 in Mass. [A widower in 1850] came to Russell County (now Lee), Salem, Ala., before 1849. He was a farmer north of Salem. Children: Thomas and George. Thomas joined Salem Masonic Lodge, 1849; Caleb, father in 1851."

FLAKE William G. - b.1810; m. Amelia ______b.1815, in Putnam County, Georgia. Settled in Russell County,Al., in 1836 where Big Uchee runs into the Chattahoochee. In 1837, he moved south of Salem where Isaac Hill had lived. Mr. Flake was a successul farmer with forty slaves to be emancipated at the close of the war. Children: Thomas, William, Eugene, warren, Mrs. J.J. Smith, Mrs. Fergerson, and Mrs. John Farley.

FLOYD, Daniel William - (1908-1895) m. Mary (polly) Trigg Preston (1808-1892_ Dec 13, 1831 in Bedford Co., VA. Settled in Salem, Russell (now Lee) Co., in 1836. A farmer and physician, he was a prominent Mason and an active member of SOns of Temperance. Both were members of Baptist Church and are buried in Baptist Cemetery. Children: Mary Docia, Charles Thomas, John William, Susan catherine, Daniel Henry, Mattie Preston, Richard Preston, Mildred Virginia and Charlette Elizabeth. First three were born in Virginia, the others in Alabama.

FULLER, Simeon - b. 1820 . Sarah _____1820, came from Georgia about 1841. Settled in Russell County (now Lee County) near Salem. He was a farmer. Simeon and his son, Marion, were members of the Salem Masonic Lodge in 1851 and 1853. Children: Elizabeth and Marion b. in Georgia; Amanda, James, William, John, and Thomas in Alabama.

GARLIC, Edgar A. __b.1812 m. Ann _____[b.1815] in Georgia and settled in Russell (now Lee) County before 1838 about four miles south of Salem. Mr. Garlic was a famer and a politician. He represented Russell County in the legislature, 1857 to 1859. Rev. Cherry refers to him as Judge Garlic. Children: Victoria, Adalade, Edward, Samuel, Benny and William.

GREER, General Masel [1848-1934] [farmer] m.(1) Louise Elkins. Ch: 4 sons - Zack, Isaac, Ambros and General Masel, Jr.: 2 daughters - Maude and Mary M. m. Sarah Jane Sturgess. 2 sons: John and Charlie. 5 daughters: Annie, Mattie, Coley, Eula and Ruth. General Masel, Jr., M. Hattie E. Sturgess [1880-1039]. 2 sons: Hugh and Wiley; 4 daughters: Thelma, Clara., Serena and Laura.

GRIFFIN, Andrew Bonaparte [1800-1896]; moved from Columbus to Russell County about 1840, m. Susan Tate Fortson in 1832. Judge, Inferior Court, Muscogee Cty., Ga.,; later Alabama Senator from Russell County, 1857-59. Children: John Randolph; Houston Lamar; Andrew Bonaparte, Jr.; George Washington; Russell LaFayette; Harriett Muscogee Floyd; Sarah Jane Edwards; Josephine Floyd; Victoria Walton; Susan Pauline Owen; Hortense Letitia Summers. Oldest living descendants in Opelika: Evelyn Melton, Lurine Floyd, Hattie Hall, Hattie Will Bryan, Sudie Dean, Clement C. Torbert and others."

GRIMES, Henry H. [1802-1872] settled in Armstrong Community Macon County, in early 1840's, m. Sophia Crowley [1818-1871]. Children: Elizabeth, {m. Professor H.H. Rutherford}; John [1843-1862]{Confederate soldier, taken ill in VA., died after brought home by his captain, John H. Christian, first to be buried in Armstrong Cemetery}; Sara; Henry; Thomas; William; Susan.

GULLATT, George Washington [1807-1898] m. Jane Glaze {1815-1887}. In 1862, came to Russell Co., settling near Crawford, Al. Children: Alexander; Peter, Nancy Ann (m. John W. Dudley); William: Katherine: Absolem: Robert: Augustus: Amelia m. B.F. Stripling: George: Martha: John: Edwin: All children settled in Chambers, Russell & Lee Counties. Absolem [1811-1872] m. Nancy Frazer [1820-1891] settled in Stonewall, Al. Children: Groegia, Martha, Regina Mary, Baxter, John, Peter, Willie, Nannie. Family Cemetery at Stonewall, Al.

HARRIS, Brittain D. - b. 1794 in Lincoln County, Georgia, m. Jane W. Saunders of Georgia May 20, 1816. She died in 1818. Exact date Mr. Harris came to Alabama is not known; first came to Talapoosa County in 1830, he m. Sarah A. Walton of Montgomery. After moving around, he came from Chambers County and settled near Salem, 1838. About 1850 he built a home in Salem known as the "Harris House." He was a regular tenter for several years at the Salem campground. A farmer, Mason, Methodist and a politician. Children: John G., only one of five survived by first m. Charles R. was killed in Confederate army, Francis A., Edmond S., Sarah J., Brittian D., and Jane.

HARRIS, James M. -- b.(1810-___) m. Elizabeth _____b. 1813, in Ga. Settled in Russell (now Lee) before 1835. He was a farmer, a Justice of the Peace in Russell County in 1855, 1856, and 1857; a Lieutenant in the War of 1836; clerk of Concord Missionary Baptist Church fro many years. Children: Martha, Sarah, Rebecca, Ann, ALexander, James, and Mary.

HIGHTOWER, Rolla - b. 1800 in Ga., m. Tabitha ____ b.1810 in Georgia. Settled in Russell (now Lee), 1833, south of Salem. A farmer and a member of Salem Masonic Lodge in 1856. Children: Frances, Wallis, Newton, Weldon, Eliza, and Young.

HILL, Isaac - Was in Salem in 1835 amd settled abouth two miles south. He aided in organizing the Salem Methodist Church in 1835, soon moved to Macon County. Isaac Hill m. Mary Upton Dec 23, 1846. [Russell County Marriage Records]

HOUSTON, Edward A. - {1844-1875} from N.C. : m. Martha B. Dawkins {1848-1900} from Georgia in 1866. Bought land on the Chattahoochee River and set up Houston's Ferry. Served in Confederate Army. When he returned home, he and his wife setled on a farm near Salem that his wife inherited. After his death, his wife and four children lived in th old Asker Hotel, then moved to West Point, Georgia. Edward and Martha Houston are buried in Salem Methodist Cemetery.

JARRELL. Smith C. {1825-____} from Ga.; m Mary A Horn {b 1832} from South Carolina March 6, 1849. He was a farmer. One Child: Cinderilla.

JARRELL, Thomas {b.1819 - }was from Georgia; m. Martha Kent {b. 1825} was from Georgia., m. (Oct 27, 1844) by George A Jarrell. He was a farmer. Children: Elizabeth, George, & Sarah.
