Rev. Alvie Loe Elzie Thorn

was born on 14 May 1913 in Colbert Co., Al.,
and died 24 May 1990 at his residence in Franklin Co., Al. He was a
retired Baptist minster, a retired school bus driver, a member of Shiloh
Baptist Church, a member of Pleasant Site Masonic Lodge 364, a 32nd
degree Mason, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Red Bay.
Services were held Saturday, May 26, 1990, at Deton Funeral Home Chapel,
Red Bay, with the Rev. Earnest Hand and the Rev. Billy Myrick
officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Deaton Funeral
Home, Red Bay directed.
Survivors include wife, Reba Jarnigan Thorn of Red Bay. sons Alvie Thorn
and wife Beverly of Russellville, Gene Thorn and wife Brenda of Red Bay;
daughter Virginia Johnston and husband Howard of Red Bay; sisters, Lou
Annie Kuykendall and Ora Hunt, both of Russellville; 11 grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were; Mike Thorn, Shane Thorn, Benny Johnston, Greg Thorn,
Steven Shewbart and Sammy Randolph.

Clarence E. Thorn

 85, of Russellville died Saturday, July 22, 1989 at
the Red Bay Hospital.
He was a member and deacon of Liberty Primitive Baptist Church, and was
retired from the Alabama Highway Department.
Serves were Monday, July 24, at 2 p.m. from the Deaton Funeral Home
Chapel in Red Bay, Rev. Elder J. D. Yarbrough officiated. Burial was in
Bonds Cemetery in Franklin County. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay was in
charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ann Lawson Thorn, of Russellville; four
step-daughters, Betty Hamm, Barbara Abramson and Doris Lovelace, all of
Florence, and Shelia Hayes of Cherokee; three step-sons, Glennis England
of Huntsville, Leon England and Ralph England, both of Florence; two
sisters, Lou Annie Kuykendall of Red Bay and Ora Hunt of Russellville;
one brother, Elzie Thorn of Red Bay; 21 step-grandchildren, 16
step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vada O. Kuykendall Thorn in
1974 and a daughter, Mavis Louise Thorn in 1924.
Pallbearers were Alvie Thorn, David Goins, Dwayne Hunt, Gerald Jarnigan,
U. R. Jarnigan, Johnny Abramson, Donald Hayes and Jamey Hunt.

Mrs. Vada O. Thorn

 age, 74, of Rt. 2 Russellville, AL.  Funeral services
were held on May 20, 1974 at 2 p.m. at Liberty Primitive Baptist Church
with the Rev. Arlie Hocutt officiating. Burial was in the Bonds Cemetery
with Dean Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay directing.
Mrs. Thorn, a member of Liberty Primitive Baptist Church, died at her
residence on May 18 at 9:15 p.m.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Thorn, Rt. 2 Russellville; two
sisters, Mrs Edgar Jarnigan, Rt. 2, Russellville, and Mrs. Terry Lewey,
Sheffield; three brothers, Walter Kuykendall, Rt. 2 Russellville, Loe S.
Kuykendall, Rt. 3, Russellville, and P. H. Kuykendall, Rt. 6,
Russellville.
Pallbearers were; Gene Thorn, Ray Kuykendall, Woddie Kuykendall, Harold
Kuykendall, Gerald Jarnigan and Michael Goins.

Cora Lou Annie Thorn Kuykendall

age, 90, of Russellville, passed away
Friday, February 23, 1999.
Mrs. Kuykendall was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. She was
preceded in death by her husband, P. H. Kuykendall.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 28, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Cedar
Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Oliver, Jr. and Rev. Eugene Digby
officiating. Interment was in Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Kuykendall is survived by a son, Robert Junior Kuykendall of
Tuscumbia; a daughter, Dorothy Holland of Russellville; a sister, Ora
Hunt of Russellville; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and two step-great-great-grandchildren'

Annie Bell Shewbart Thorn

 94, of Vina died Friday, June 28, 1991 at her
residence.
She was the widow of the late Arthur Thorn, a housewife and member of
Burnout Baptist Church.
Services were held Monday, July 1 at Burnout Baptist Church in Vina with
the Rev. Dan Hindman officiating. Burial followed in Burnout Cemetery
with Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay directing.
Survivors include three daughters, Artie Mae Freeman of Tuscumbia,
Evelyn Thorn and Mavis Hargett, both of Vina; one stepson, Rossie Thorn
of Red Bay; one step-daughter, Floy Blackburn of Red Bay; one brother
Carl Shewbart of Vina; two sisters, Claudie James and Lamell Horton,
both of Vina; Nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Mary Cora Thorn Kuykendall

 101, of Russellville, died Thursday, Dec.
10, 1996, at the Red Bay Hospital.
She was a native of Alabama, a housewife, and a member of Liberty
Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Walter Edward Kuykendall, a daughter, Nannie Lou Hellums, and a son,
Edward F. Kuykendall.
Services were held Thursday Dec. 12 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red
Bay, with Rev. Douglas Thomburg and Rev. Jack Maroon officiating. Burial
followed in Rock Creek Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Thorn, Russellville; six
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Leonard Floyd Thorne

 73, of Belmont, Ms., died Tuesday, May 23, 1989,
at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Ms. He was a retired
farmer and a Baptist.
Services were held Thursday, May 25, at Old Union Baptist Church, in
Tishomingo Co., Ms., with the Rev. Albert Hamilton and the Rev. Woodrow
Horn officiating. Burial followed in Old Union Cemetery with Deaton
Funeral Home of Belmont directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marie Bolton Thorne, of Belmont; three
sons, Roger Thorne and Steve Thorne both of Belmont, James Thorne,
Dennis; four daughters, Betty Cole, Annette Lindsey, and Barbara Pike,
all of Booneville, Ms, and Margie Chaffin of Iuka., Ms., one brother
Lester Thorne of Cherokee, Al.; 14 grandchildren.
Bearers were, Leon Cook, Jerry Coleman, William Bolton, Joseph Tucker,
Stewart Strickland and Rick Gattis.

Flora Marie Bolton Thorne

 79, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the
Iuka Hospital. She was a native of Franklin County Alabama. She was a
retired employee of the Tishomingo Shoe Co. after 17 years and a member
of Old Union Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
Services will be a 2 p.m. today at  Old Union Baptist Church with the
Rev. Tony Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery.
Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Cole and her husband, Harold,
and Annette Lindsey and her husband, H. B., all of Booneville, Margie
Chaffin and her husband, Bob, of  Iuka, and Barbara Pike of Southaven;
three sons, James Thorne and his wife, Ann, of Dennis, and Roger Thorne
and his wife, Debbie, and Steve Thorne and his wife, Deborah, all of
Belmont; One sister, Ottie Kizer of Booneville; 14 grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; a special niece, Josephine Smith of Belmont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Thorne, and a son,
Leonard Floyd Thorne, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Todd Holley, Ricky Don Thorne, Michael Chaffin,
Brian McCotchen, Andrew Thorne, Keith Cole, Stewart Strickland, Traye
Lindsey and Phillip Whitehead.

Bro. Charlie D. Thorn

 91, Russellville, died Saturday, July 28, 2001,
at Shoals Hospital, Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
He was a retired minister after 70 years in the ministry, pastor of 68
years in Franklin, Colbert, Lawrence and Walker Counties in Alabama,
also East Mount Zion, in Baldwin, Ms. He was a member of Concord Baptist
Church, Russellville, member of Newburg Masonic Lodge No. 388 and member
of Russellville Civitan Club.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of
Russellville, with Bro. Doug Myers, Bro. Hulon Bishop and Bro. Tom
Wimberly officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens. Pinkard
Funeral Home, Russellville is directiing. Visitation was Sunday at the
funeral home. The body will lie in state from 10-11 a.m.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Thorn, Russellville; sons, Wallace T.
Thorn and wife, Estelle, John W. Thorn and wife, Sarah, C. D. Thorn Jr.,
and wife, Ramona, Billy Ray Thorn and wife, Mary, all of Russellville;
daughter, Carolyn Sue Thorn of Russellville; brothers, L. L. Thorn and
J. T. Thorn, both of Tuscumbia; 14 grandchildren; 29
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews.
Pallbearers will include grandsons, Jimmy Thorn, Roger Thorn, Charlie
Thorn, Craig Richeson, Jeff Thorn, Jason Thorn, Terry Thorn and Craig
Thorn.
Honorary bearers will be Minister Friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thorn, and
grandaughter, Jennifer Thorn in 1963.

Arthur Lee Blackburn

 76, born 20 Feb. 1903 in Franklin Co., Al., died
16 Nov. 1979 in Franklin Co., Al., of an apparent heart attack. He was a
retired carpenter and a member of Halltown Methodist Church.
Services were sunday afternoon at Dean Deaton Funeral Home with the Rev.
Horance Clements and the Rev. Danny Thompson officiating. Burial was in
Burnout Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Floy Thorn Blackburn; a daughter, Mrs.
Clyneice Ledbetter of Red Bay; five sons, Barney Lee Blackburn of
Florence Ala., James Noble and Larry Blackburn both of Russellville,
Al., ; Guy Blackburn of Muscle Shoals, Al., Raymon Blackburn of Vina;
Three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Lou Bohannon of Vina, Mrs. Willie Morrow of
Red Bay and Mrs. Florence Cochran of Tuscumbia, Al.; a brother, Curren
Blackburn of Vina; 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was putting new singles on his house and fell dead on the roof.

Floy Idell Thorn Blackburn

 84, born 10 Dec. 1910, died 30 Nov. 1995 in
Red Bay Hospital, Franklin Co., Al.
She was a native of Alabama and was retired from the Dietary Department
of the Red Bay Hospital after six years. She was a member of the Burnout
Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee
Blackburn, and three grandsons, James Ray Blackburn, David Guy Blackburn
and Phillip Blackburn.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in
Red Bay, Al., with the Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Burial will be in
Burnout Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Clyneice Ledbetter of Red Bay, Al.; five
sons, Barney Lee Blackburn, Guy Blackburn and Raymon Blackburn, all of
Vina, Al., Noble Blackburn of Russellville, Al., and Larry Blackburn of
Tuscumbia, Al.; three half-sisters, Artie Mae Freeman of Tuscumbia,
Evelyn Thorn and Mavis Hargett, both of Vina, Al.; 24 grandchildren; 33
great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers wiil be Dwight Lee Blackburn, Gary Wayne Blackburn, Stewart
Gene Blackburn, Mark Lee Blackburn, Terry Glenn Blackburn and Roger Dale
Ledbetter.

James Henry "Jimmack" Kuykendall

 75, passed away at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Ellis Jarnigan, of White Oak, Saturday morning, March 2,
1940 following a three weeks illness.
Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock
with Rev. Joe Hughes, of Red Bay, officiating. Interment was in the
Bonds Cemetery, Underwood directing.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs.Nan Henry Kuykendall; five sons, Walter E.
of Rock Creek; Bent, Loe, P. Heck and Hill Wright Kuykendall, all of
White Oak; four daughters, Mrs. Villa Jarnigan, Mrs. Ada Jarnigan, Mrs.
Vada Thorn, of White Oak, and Mrs. Susie Lewey, of Red Bay; twenty-four
grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Joe Anna Thorn.

Hill Wright Kuykendall

 38, born 15 May 1911, died 9 Feb. 1949 of
Belgreen, were held Thursday afternoon, Feb 10, 1949.
Services were held in the Cedar Creek Church with the interment in the
adjoining cemetery. Rev. Joe Hughes officiated at the services.
The deceased was a life long resident of the Belgreen community and had
been in ill health for the past two months.
He is survived by his wife, Ona; two sons Ray and Woodie K.; and a
daughter Nellie Jean. Survivors also include four brothers, and four
sisters.
Newton Bros. Funeral Home  directed the services.
Note: He was the first person buried in Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Iona Hellums Kuykendall

84, Red Bay, died Jan. 25, 2002.
Visitation was Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Cedar Creek
Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Officiating at the funeral will be Bro. Silas Oliver.
She is survived by two sons, Hillard Ray Kuykendall, Red Bay, Woodie K.
Kuykendall, Golden Ms.; one daughter, Nellie Jean Kuykendall Strickland,
Red Bay; one sister, Lola Thorn, Cherokee; one brother, Oliver Hellums,
Red Bay; eight grandchildren, David Strickland, Anita Vandiver, Joey Ray
Kuykendall Sr., Christopher R. Kuykendall, Craig Kuykendall, Ronald
Kuykendall, Karen Kuykendall, and Sharon Williams; 15
great-grandchildren Amanda Borden, Courtney Strickland, Chase
Strickland, Ashely Strickland, Jessica Strickland, Jarrett Vandiver,
Mikayla Grace Vandiver, Joey Ray Kuykendall Jr., Jason Kuykendall,
Heather Whitten, Kristin Kuykendall, Koty Kuykendall, Cacie Ann
Williams, Kayla Williams, and Kristan Kuykendall; four
great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hill Wright Kuykendall.
Pallbearers will include David Strickland, Craig Kuykendall, Joey
Kuykendall Sr., Chris Kuykendall, Joey Kuykendall Jr., and Greg
Vandiver.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist
Church for 72 years.
Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, is directing.

Benton Kuykendall

72, of Red Bay, Rt. 2, were held Tuesday, April 21,
1970 at 2 p.m. at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. George
Fretwill officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Creek Cemetery with the
Dean Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Kuykendall, a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist and a retired farmer
and school bus driver, died Sunday, April 19, at 6 p.m. in the Red Bay
Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Jarnigan Kuykendall of Red Bay,
Rt. 2; one daughter, Mrs. Lora Bolton of Red Bay Rt. 2; two sons, Owen
Kuykendall of Cleveland, Ohio and Willard Kuykendall of Red Bay; three
sisters, Mrs. Ada Jarnigan of Russellville, Mrs. Vada Thorn of
Russellville, and Mrs. Susie Lewey of Tuscumbia; three brothers, Walter
Kuykendall of Russellville, Lowe Kuykendall of Russellville, and Hector
Kuykendall of Red Bay; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Felix Thurman Hunt,

92, of Cherokee, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002.
Visitation was Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at noon at Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
He will lie in state from 10 a.m. - noon at the church. Interment will follow in the Cedar Creek Cemetery.  Brother Silas Oliver and Brother Charlie Thompson will officate. Mr. Hunt was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his beloved wife of 71 years, Ora Thorn Hunt of Cherokee;  his children;  Earlene Goins and husband, Leon of Tuscambia, Al.; Jackie Stonecipher and husband Leon of Tuscumbia, Al., Dwayne Hunt and wife, Becky, of Muscle Shoals, Al., Dwight Hunt and wife, Karen, of Cherokee, Al. 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers are grandsons, Mike Goins, Jerry Goins, David Goins, Stacey Stonecipher, Jamey Hunt, Jared Hunt and Anthony Tank. Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee, is directing.
