BRALEY, Joseph Warren, (Private, Company F, 6th Alabama Regiment) Joseph was from Muskogee County Georgia. Born October 15, 1835 and died October 24, 1894 and is buried at Old Union Cemetery, Corley, Bowie County, Texas. It is believed that he joined with John Brown Gordon in Georgia and came to Alabama with him when they were refused in Georgia. Rumor has it that his records show that he was captured in the war and was injured but did not receive medical attention for approximately one month, and that his records show that when he was (released or discharged) that he suffered from a stiff arm. His wife Virginia Antoinette (Nettie) Lokey who he married in 1866 applied for a Confederate Pension from the State of Texas. The1870 shows them living in Muskogee County Georgia. They moved their family to Cass County Texas about 1871. These are the children and the information on them that is confirmed thus far. John Bee Gordon Braley, b.18 July 1875, d. 05 March 1918; Joe W. Braley, b. 25 May 1880 d.15 August 1900; Mathew L. Braley, b. 01 April 1882, d. 09 September 1906; Martin H. Braley 17 March 1884 08 April 1885 Infant Daughter 09 November 1888 11 November 1888. * = These are names that we have been led to believe are his children but as yet have been unable to confirm *Cerulean Kalona (Sweetie) Braley; *Thomas Miller Braley; *Ansel A. Braley. The other children listed are buried near him and his wife in the Old Union cemetery.
