HUMPHRIES FAMILY

HUMPHRIES, George Washington (Private, Company L, 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment) Born May 1, 1837 and died February 19, 1914 and buried in the Salem-Macon Baptist Cemetery in Macon County, Alabama. He married Sallie Carnes. Great Grandson, Ed Humphries

Take a look at this photograph and see if you can pick up anything from it. We found it in a old trunk along with other family pictures. Would like to know if the uniform was a Columbus Depot issue and that the belt buckle was a Georgia depot issue.. I was also told that he is holding a 69cal smooth bore rifle. I got this from one of the local civil war re-enactors, so just trying to make sure of the setting. I will try to attach the photo. Thanks in advance for any help on getting a full description of this.

HUMPHRIES, Ambrus Warren (Private, Company L, 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment) Born April 16, 1843, Died August 13, 1930. He is buried in the Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery in Macon County, Alabama. He married Elizabeth Taylor. Great Grandnephew Ed Humphries

On Feb. 5, 2003, James D. Allen, creator of this website passed away
There is no doubt that he would want the work on the
6th Alabama Infantry to go on.
With that in mind, this site is dedicated to him.
We miss you, Jimmy.
