DIED.
In this city, on Sunday, the 4th inst. Jimmie Jones, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Halsey.

Orlando P. Halsey, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Halsey died on Saturday evening last at 3:30 o’clock, at the home of his parents on Main Street, aged about 39 years.

The deceased had been residing in Texas for more than twenty years, and during the last few years of his residence there he lived at Woxahatchie [sic]. For several years his health has been failing and during last summer he visited his parents here and spent a portion of the time at Colbert Heights. He improved rapidly, and after a stay of several months returned to his home in Texas. In January, of this year he had a very severe attack of la grippe*, from which he never recovered. He gradually grew worse and in March was confined to his bed. A true and devoted wife, a companion for fifteen years, tenderly and patiently administered every want. Two weeks ago he felt that he was growing worse, and believing that the change would do him good telegraphed to his brother at Hope, Ark., to come and bring him to Alabama. He stood the trip remarkably well and arrived here Thursday night. Circumstances prevented his wife from coming with him, but she intended joining him the following Monday. The deceased only survived two days after reaching home. Mrs. Halsey arrived Sunday night several hours after her husband’s death.

It is indeed consoling to his family that he made peace with his God several months before his death.

Rev. Wallace conducted the funeral services at the residence Monday morning. Sympathizing friends were present and followed the remains to Oakwood cemetery.

The floral offerings were exquisite, the grave being a mound of beautiful flowers.

Mr. Orlando P. Halsey, formerly of Tuscumbia, but more recently of Waxahachie, Texas, died at the home of his parents in Tuscumbia, on Saturday last, aged 39 years.

AGED LADY INJURED IN FALL.
Friends of Mrs. Orlando Halsey, one of the oldest residents of Tuscumbia, will regret to learn she fell on Saturday at her home on Broad Street dislocating her hip and cracking the hip bone. She was rushed to the Colbert County Hospital where she is resting as comfortably as can be expected, however, due to her advanced age, her condition is most critical.

MRS. HALSEY INTERRED
Funeral services for Mary Catherine Halsey, aged 88, who died at the Colbert County hospital Wednesday night, were held from her residence, 207 North Broad street yesterday afternoon with Rev. W. Vester Walker and Rev. William F. Moses officiating. Interment followed in Oakwood cemetery in Tuscumbia, with Farr, Gilbert and Pride in charge.

MRS. MARY KATHERINE HALSEY
Mrs. Mary Katherine Halsey, aged 88 years, died Wednesday evening at the Colbert County Hospital, where she was taken following a fall which she suffered Saturday at her home on Broad street, Tuscumbia.

Funeral services were conducted from the home Thursday afternoon at four o’clock by Elder Vester Walker of the Church of Christ, of which the deceased was a member, assisted by Rev. W. F. Moses, rector of St. John’s Church. Pallbearers included S. P. Cooper, Henry Moore, B. R. Darrow, John D. Rather, W. G. Halsey, Dr. D. L. Chapman and Dr. Greer.

The deceased is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Phelps of Tuscumbia, Mrs. Robert Walker of Ft. Smith, Ark., Mrs. David Rorex of California and Mrs. Houston Ott of Harrisonburg, Va.; a number of grand-children, among whom are Miss Berniece Clark and Mrs. Underwood of Sheffield and two nepheds [sic], Oscar Hillman of Tuscumbia and Ed Millman [sic?] of California, and an additional wide connection.

Prior to her marriage to the late Orlando Halsey of Tuscumbia she was Miss Mary Catherine Jones and was born in Marion County, Ala. Her entire life was spent in Tuscumbia where she was held in the highest esteem.
