Welcome to Baldwin County (formed in 1809), Alabama (formed in 1819)

HISTORY
The Baldwin County Genealogical Society, a legally registered, non-profit organization, was founded in 1987 and is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and disseminating knowledge and information of genealogical, historical, biographical, and heraldic nature. The Society: promotes interest in research; stimulates by example; and provides instruction in the uses of efficient and accurate mechanics.
The Baldwin County Genealogical Society follows the principals and practices in association with the National Genealogical Society, such as: championing advanced ethical standards; opposing incompetent and disreputable researchers; fostering careful documentation; promoting scholarly writing; and issuing publications.

PROJECTS
Society members provide continual support of the genealogy collection in the Foley Public Library,
the reading of tombstones and listing cemeteries within the county toward publication of these records,
transcribing of primary sources such as early church and courthouse records and family histories.

NEWSLETTER
YORE LORE is the society newsletter and is published monthly.
The contents of the newsletter is intended for non-commercial, personal use and educational purposes.
Distribution is by e-mail, postal mail or online.

MEMBERSHIP
Fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30 Membership Per Year:
Individual - 10.00, Family or Public Institutions - $15.00
New members will receive an introductory packet and assistance to begin their research. All members receive the monthly newsletter -
YORE LORE. Members are requested (not required) to submit an ancestral chart to the surname index chairman who will place a copy on file in the genealogy section of Foley Public Library, Foley, Alabama, which houses the society's research materials. The society normally notifies members of dues through its newsletter.

QUERIES
The Baldwin County Genealogy Society does not do genealogy look ups. Please contact the Foley Public Library, genealogy department for information in that regard.

The society has 106 members (Honorary Members - 0 and Life Members - 3).
Currently, the society has members in each of the following United States:
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Michigan,
New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas.
