Mrs Frances I Newhart, 92, of 314 Willow St, died Weds in Hoyt Crest Nursing Home after an illness. Her husband, Oscar H, died in 1939. She was the mother of William H Newhart, Fleetville, retired editor of the Next Week Magazine of the Sunday Times. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John Gressel & Cecelia Kempter Gressel Schultz, she was a member of St John's Lutheran Church. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs Verna C Keisling, with whom she lived; a sister, Mrs Emma Schaack of Allentown; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 am from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, 436 Cedar Ave, with services by the Rev Klaus GW Molzahn, St John's Lutheran Church. Interment, Forest Hills Cemetery..

Oscar H Newhart, 64, 307 Willow St, died this morning at 12:25 in State Hospital following a two day illness. A lifelong resident of the city, son of the late William H & Sabina Aren Newhart, who were among the early settlers in this city. He was employed by Hillside Hospital in Clarks Summit for the past two years; before that by Lackawanna Laundry for 47 years. Active member of St John's Lutheran Church. Survived by wife, Frances (nee Gressel); son, William H, a Times Reporter; daughter Verna (Keisling); two brothers, Silas of Philadelphia & Irwin of Wilkes-Barre; a sister, Mrs Carrie MacMillan of Irvington, NJ; and two grandchildren. Funeral Tues from home; Forest Hill Cemetery.
