Nelson "Dinty" Moore, 84, 828 Meadow Ave, died Sunday in Community Medical Center after an illness. His wife, Florence Nye, died in 1978. Born in Taylor, son of the late John and Anna Ott Moore, He was employed as a boiler maker for 47 years at the DL&W Railroad. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. A former scoutmaster of Troop 5, Boy Scouts of America, he was one of the last adults to receive the Eagle Award in 1952. He was also a member of the 606 Social Club, the German-American Society, the Senior Citizens, and the SPEBSQSA Barbershop Chorus. He was a charter member of the Taylor Hose Co. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Lois Pfurr, Scranton; a sister, Mrs Anna Ott, Taylor; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 am from the Arthur E and Brian A Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch St. The Rev William D Kelly, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ General Fund.
