Originally, all monthly meetings were scheduled for the first Saturday of the month. However, since we are dependent upon the Library for meeting space, we must accommodate their schedule. Our Holiday Rule provides for monthly meetings on the first Saturday except in months wherein a holiday falls on the Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday of that weekend, in which case, the meeting is held on the second Saturday. In October, we meet on the second Saturday in order to accommodate those members who like to participate in OctoberFest, which is on the first Saturday of October. If the Library closes for inclement weather, any AlaBenton meeting expected on that day is cancelled, rather than being posponed. For important traveling library exhibits, the Ayers Room where AlaBenton normally meets may be unavailable for meetings, in which case, any AlaBenton meeting scheduled for that day is sometimes changed to the Anniston Room.
