Michigan Land Grant Project

Welcome to The American History and Genealogy Project (AHGP), an unincorporated not-for-profit network of independent sites devoted to History & Genealogy, and covering North American Countries and Territories. Michigan is about 490 miles long and 240 miles wide. Michigan covers 96,810 square miles, making it the 11th largest in the States.

Land Area: 56,809 square miles.

Water Area: 40,001 square miles.

Michigan is seperated by two peninsulas. The upper peninsula is bordered by Lake Superior on the north, Lake Michigan and Lake Huron on the south, and Wiscosin and Minnesota on the west. The lower peninsula is bordered by Lake Michigan on the west, Lake Huron and Lake Erie on the east, by Indiana and Ohio on the south.
