Macpelah Plantation

History: Macpelah is approximately 2 miles South of Townsville. This is the
old plantation of the Taylor's. According to the Book "The Heritage of
Vance County", John Taylor (1696-1780) married Catherine Pendleton (1699-1774)
and they settled at "Macpelah"
about 1754. Macpelah Plantation is still in the Taylor family. Much has been
written about
this old plantation and it's owners.
