Inventory of the effects of Nelson Ragan a private of Captain S.R. Russell's Company "C" 1st Regt. US Colored Artillery (Heavy) who was enrolled as a private at Knoxville in the state of Tennessee on the 18 day of Feby 1864 and nustered into the service of the United States as a private on the 27 day of February 1864 at Knoxville in Company "C" of the 1st U.S. Colored Arty (Hy) to serve three years during the war. he was born in McMinn Co. in the state of Tennessee he was 33 years of age 5 feet 7 inches high Blk complexion Blk hair Blk eyes and by occupation when enrolled a Farmer. he died in Regt. Hospl at Knoxville Tenn on the 20th day of March 1864 by reason of Typhoid fever.

Private Quintus Ragan, of Captain J.H.Jurneys (?) Company G of the 88 Regiment of the United States Inft was enlisted by L.N. Wedelstoedt of the 68 Regiment of S.C. S(?) at Memphis Tenn on the 28 day of February, 1865, to serve three years; he was born in Jackson, in the state of Tennessee, is 23 years of age, 5 feet 11 1/2 inches high, yellow complexion, black eyes, black hair, and by occupation when enlisted a laborer. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty 60 days. By reason of rhumatism with which he has bin afflicted. More or less given his enlistment besides this he appears generally debilitated. His sickness was contracted before entering the service.
I certify that I have carefully examined the said Quintus Ragan, Private of Captain J.H. Jurneys G Company, and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of Chronic Rheumatism with enlargement of the knee joint; also general debility. The disease was not contracted in line of duty. He is not fit for the veteran Reserve Corps. Degree of disability 2/3 (two thirds).
Discharged this Tewnty Sixth day of January, 1866, at Fort Pickering Tennessee.
