The History of Hohn School District #3368
As settlers arrived in the region, with their families and growing children, the need for a centrally located school became apparent. Some of children were attended the Monte Vista and Rose School District schools, while others attended the Kansas Ridge School. Still others were unable to attend classes as they lived in the surrounding area, so they received their early education at home which consequently meant they were considerably older when they actually started to attend school.
An application was made to establish a new district, and in 1916 the Hohn School District #3368, was formed. The name Hohn was likely taken from the official trustee's name, Joseph Hohn.
Later, in 1919, the Community applied to have the name changed to something which sounded less German, so the School District was renamed Wooddale.
No schoolhouse or classes were held until 1920 after the district had become Wooddale.
