The DIETELBACH Family
Hazel Hill, Arbor Park Districts
The Dietelbach family arrived in the Ponoka area in 1944. Jake Dietelbach was born in Austria of German descent, but was raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He married a woman of German descent there, and they had a daughter, Dorothy.
The family then moved to Bashaw, Alberta for a year, and then purchased the Dan Card place where they lived for 5 years before moving to the Hazel Hill district. After 5 years on the Crouse farm, the family moved to Wetaskawin, returning to the Arbor Park district where they raised sheep.
After Ms. Dietelbach passed away in 1963, Jack moved into the town of Ponoka and worked as an engineer and maintenance man at the General Hospital.
The Children...
Dorothy - took all her schooling in Ponoka, being bussed in all the time. She became a hairdresser and worked in Wetaskiwin and Red Deer. She then became a salon owner in Red Deer where she married Mr. Peter Chabra, and had 2 children.
