Parkland Community History - Lakeview

Contributed for use in Alberta Digital Archives by Darlene Homme

The first registered landowner on the site of Lakeview on Lake Wabamun was Ambroise Adams, a farmer from Lac Ste. Anne. This was a favorite camping place of the Cree and Metis in the area. In 1904, Jospeh H. Gariepy and Prosper E. Lessard bought the property for development as a summer resort. Progress was begun when the Grand Truck Pacific was built.
