The grandfather of Mr. P. S. Harvin organized whatbecame the Reeseville AME Church for his former slaves after the WarBetween the States. Mr. Harvin gave an acre lot at the station for achurch. Under the leadership of an ex-slave named Pastor Payton, whowas the leader of the church from 1868 - 1886, a church building waserected.
