Calling all SLATER and BRATTON researchers! -- FOUND -- Marriage Certificate of Leonard Slater and Eleanora Bratton, married October 25, 1865 in Defiance County, Ohio see May Queries for more information
"I am responding to the May query re the marriage license for Slater and Bratton. The Justice of the Peace, H C Hootman, in addition to one of the witnesses to the marriage, Christian Hootman, are both, I believe ancestors of my late husband, John J. Hootman. I believe that Christian is most likely his great grandfather. We knew that his grandfather, Addison Hootman might have been from Ohio, but not which county. This license is not only a boon for the Slater and Bratton families, but a wonderful clue to my family; since now we know what state and probably which county to search in. About the OHGenWeb Project
In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky where collected databases would be stored. In addition, these databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.
OHGenWeb is an extention of that premise.
Volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of data and generally oversee the contents of the web site for each county within the state. Contact the volunteer host cited on the county site if you have a desire to add your information to the county site's data.
