Addison Rural Cemetery is located on a knoll behind the Maple Cemetery and off of the east end of Maple Street. Go thru the central gates-travel North past the Maple Cemetery--on past a stand of evergreen trees--Rural Cemetery located north of these trees. In the proceedings of the town meetings for 1808 we find Wm. Wombough, Lemuel Searl, & Levi Johnson constituted a committee to purchase a burying ground, clear and fence the same. The Purchase thereof to be taken out of the treasury of the poor money--from Roberts 1811 Historical Gazette of Steuben.
