Undocumented Cemeteries
This is a listing of cemeteries supposedly in Muscatine County at one time or another for which we have found references but have been unable to find listings of burials or exact locations.  Some may be listed under other names or may have vanished into wooded areas or cow pastures many years ago.  Ones we have identified under a different name have referring links to the commonly used cemetery name.

What information is known about each one is listed here.  If you have any documents referring to these burial sites, please email us with the information.  The more we learn, the better chance we have of documenting these final resting places of our ancestors.

    Camp Strong Burials
    Muscatine Island, Fruitland

Camp Strong was a training area located on Muscatine Island during the Civil War.  It is known that the IA 35th Infantry and the IA 24th Infantry among others trained on this island.  There are reports that Confederate prisoners may have been buried at this site but to date no documentation of this has been brought forth.  It is clear there was a problem with illness and measles in this camp which could have resulted in some burials at this site.  Exact location has not been established.

Referenced in a compiled listing of cemeteries by the Musser Library staff.
A listing in the WPA records indicated this cemetery was in Lake Twp and that it might be the same as High Prairie.
However, the person this comment was attached to (David Haroff) is buried at Jesse (Haroff) Cemetery in Seventy Six Twp., so the problem has not yet been resolved as to which cemetery this may be.
